Harry, Gambit and Charm earn Cherry Fairley two Silver medals at season opener

My 2016-17 Sled dog racing season got off to a fine start at the weekend with 2 Silver medals at the International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS) world cup points race held in the lovely Scottish countryside near Blairgowrie.

My first class was the Open (ie, any breed of dog) bike-jor class ran over 3 miles of grassy hilly terrain with heats on Saturday and Sunday giving a combined overall finishing time of just over 25 minutes. I ran ‘Harry’ the ‘Eurohound’ (a dog specifically bred for sprint racing being a cross between English Pointer/GSP/Greyhound).  My second class was the 2 dog freight for which I used a rig (light 3 wheeled cart) and ran 2 of my Alaskan Malamutes ‘Gambit’ and ‘Charm’.

The race forms part of a 3 weekend British Championship with heats to be held in England and Wales later in the season. My next upcoming race is the prestigious IFSS European Dryland Cup to be held in Thetford, England in 2 weekend’s time.
